Journey Starter Path

Journey PlatformPreviously known as the Transact Platform.  |   Starter

As a starter, you want to understand quickly a few key concepts about our Temenos Journey platform and its products, so you can start using them.

Our platform is rich in functionality and therefore complex, so it takes some time to get your head around it. We recommend you begin with the executive path first, as you only need to read a handful of articles and understand a few key things.

The first product to learn about is Journey Manager, because it's the most important product that other products utilize. Journey Manager has to be installed and configured before you can start using it. You can install the product yourself, or ask your IT department to do it for you. However, Journey Manager is often installed and run on a cloud, so you only need to log in using credentials provided to you.

Your Journey Manager experience starts with the home dashboard. It is abundant with useful system information, recent forms and services, and transaction history, so it may be tricky to decide where to go next. We suggest you look at organizations, as this is the first building block you need to create and configure before you can deploy any forms. Then, check what form spaces are and whether you have permissions to access them. Form spaces host forms and control user accessibility using groups and roles. Manager comes with the advanced SSOSingle sign-on (SSO) is a property of access control of multiple related, yet independent, software systems. With this property, a user logs in with a single ID and password to gain access to any of several related systems. security configuration, including LDAPLightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) s an open, vendor-neutral, industry standard application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an Internet Protocol network. and ADFSActive Directory Federation Services. to name a few, and you need to be quite familiar with these technologies to set it up.

One of the best features of Journey Manager is Groovy services, which you can use as they are or write your own. This gives you unbounded possibilities to implement various solutions, but yet you have to know how to write GroovyGroovy is a powerful scripting language which runs on the Java Virtual Machine. Across theJourney platform, Groovy is used to create services in Manager. These services are primarily used to create plug-in style systems that interact with Manager. scripts. We recommend you check Transact Fluent SDK overview and benefits of using Groovy before you dive into writing your own stuff. It's worth looking at the standard services, as they may already address your needs, plus they are professionally written and thoroughly tested. This is especially the case for the 3rd party service integration that is usually complex and therefore time consuming part of application development. Luckily for you, we have Transact Exchange that comes with dozens of packages you can easily install and use to enhance you FinTechFinancial Technology, also known as FinTech, is a new industry that uses new technology and innovation to improve activities in finance. It aims to compete with traditional financial methods in the delivery of financial services to customers by improving customer experience, reducing time-to-market, decreasing cost to mention a few. applications.

Manager includes a powerful framework, the collaboration jobs, for building onboarding workflows. This is a quite complex area and requires significant knowledge of our products, but it's worth reading a few articles to understand what you can possibly achieve with this tool.

Journey Manager is the developer friendly product and comes with extensive logging and troubleshooting functionality, so you can debug your services and configurations to tune and fix them. Additionally, it allows you to create your solution in a development environment and then propagate it to another environment and finally to production using our multi-environment support. Journey Manager also supports the horizontal scaling, meaning you can add server nodes to cater for your production needs and demands. We recommend running several server nodes, with at least one dedicated node to generate and render receipts.

Journey Manager has a great deal of system configuration that is paramount to keep the product running. We recommend starting with outgoing email service and data retention management. While Journey Manager is designed to sustain high load of transactions, it requires some maintenance and operational support every now and then and when an issue occurs. There's a lot to learn here, so we suggest you start with submission life cycle and transaction details.

The next product you need to understand is Journey Maestro. It is extremely rich in functionality and has user-friendly interface allowing you to build sophisticated and elegant web form applications based on modern technologies, such as HTML5Maestro forms are fundamentally built using HTML 5. The structure of the form and the text displayed in the form are all configured and established using HTML5. HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages and stands for Hypertext Markup Language. HTML 5 describes the structure of a Maestro form. and JavaScriptJavascript (JS) is a scripting languages, primarily used on the Web. It is used to enhance HTML pages and is commonly found embedded in HTML code. JavaScript is an interpreted language. Thus, it doesn't need to be compiled.. We recommend looking at forms and components first, then get your head around libraries and entities, as these are enablers for best UX design principles and software reuse. This content is rather complex and requires some knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and UX design. When you've mastered form creation, you can learn how to build them in Maestro and then deploy them to Journey Manager, where they will be run.

Our Journey platform enables you to apply SDLCSoftware Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a process used by the software industry to design, develop and test high quality softwares. to the process of building, testing and running your form applications. Journey Analytics fulfills a very important role in this development cycle, as it allows you to analyze customer journey experiences that are based on your forms. There's a lot of theory behind how we collect, analyze and present data, but we recommend you start with the product's dashboard view and then follow the links as you read. If you're after a few simple reports and A/B testing caparisons, we suggest you look at Journey Manager's analytics, which is a simplified version of Journey Analytics. Nevertheless, this tool gives you a good insights on transaction trends, such as completion and conversion rates, form abandonment and bounce rate, that are the key metrics for form improvement to try to make the customer journey frictionless.

As you can see, there's a wealth of information generated during user interaction with forms. It's extremely difficult to manage it without our Journey Workspaces product, which provides key features for bank staff to provide great customer service. We recommend starting with Workspaces UI Tour and Workspaces Core Concepts to gain an understanding of Workspaces fundamentals. One of our newest products is Journey Springboard, the out of the box Deposit Account Opening (DAO) application for the US market, enables banks to rapidly deliver an outstanding digital customer acquisition journey using a pre-built solution on an extensible platform that grows with the bank. You can use it as the best practice, pre-built custom solutions to get to market faster with acquisition journeys. The Springboard DAO solves the complex challenges of the deposit account opening process, including compliance and risk management requirements. Through pre-integrated connections to proven FinTech providers, Springboard DAO addresses the critical issues of fraud screening, ID verification, risk mitigation, data pre-fill, and funding.

Now, this was more detailed introduction on our products and development practices we use. There's much more for you to read and learn. You can always go to our documentation search or navigate the table of content to find out more about each product.
